One issue that may affect your decision is how the software handles page
margins on laser and inkjet printers. If all you're trying to do is publish
a greenbar report to .pdf then it probably doesn't matter if the resulting
.pdf will just be viewed, or if it must use the 'page scaling' or the 'auto
rotate and center' options to print.

We had a recent situation, though, where an RPG app generated
stickum-labels to an iSeries system printer loaded with continuous forms. I
found out that every spool-file-to-pdf tool seems to use a different method
of handling page margins and the resulting .pdfs didn't necessarily line up
with the custom forms. Took me a couple of days of experimentation until I
came up with something that worked.

Ariadne software in the uk has a system called CoolTools Plus.
We use it directly in our line of business applications to send emails
of
Purchase Orders and Invoices.
we also use it to create pdf, html etc from printouts for other
purposes.
also creates excel files from db2 by passing an sql string, a query, or
other select criteria.
It is simple, easy to use and is "programmer friendly".
also easy to use directly from rpg - do a user open and close of the
spooled file first.
