how many programs reference the LF in question? if it's only 1 or 2 just
create the index & handle the rest in the code.

Jeff, since this is a specific requirement, I'd recommend that you
continue to use DDS to define this keyed logical. If the PF itself is DDL
based, you still gain most of the benefits of DDL, despite this one LF
being defined by DDS.
