Thanks. I have a meeting with my BP in two weeks to go over the config.
I need to get rid of the 5094 and 5095 and get everything into a rack.
Running out of floor space. I am sure I will need to upgrade the HMC
and FSP as well. Never been done since the system was installed 2 years
ago. But still works great.

Once you connect the HSL-2 cables and the SPCN (must be in a full loop
on a
5xx box) and bring the machine up in stand-by the HMC will recognize
everything on the Loops. A separate whole conversation about HMC code
levels and FSP Lic Code is needed if nothing has been done since machine
was
installed. Contact me off-line for additional information. Then all you
do
is modify the profile for the partition to add the new hardware to the
profile for the specific LPAR and you are good to go. Also, if you have
moved the Load-source, you need to tell it where that controller is
under
"Tagged I/O".

You say you are purchasing a 1.8M rack. Do you mean a Feature code 0551
rack? They are great, but remember this is 220v and 30 Amps. If you
need to
be purchasing anything right now for cards and disks, I would be buying
5786
(EXP-24 Disk expansion) so I can take advantage of Hot Spares with
V5R4M5,
and also 5790s to put my cards in. You will find a huge maintenance
savings
with this combo vs a fully loaded 5094 (not saying to replace your 5094,
its
just an FYI).

We build these machines all the time for our customers, and if you get
the
right stuff you will be very happy.
