Why create the dummy file if option 1 to alcobj the queue itself works? That's what Darren does for his data queue programs. I guess my concern with that is that it may cause issues with the backup program. Granted, maybe this reader job should be bounced during the backup. Probably reading the queue and cleaning it up, may be the best, but that's a bit of work. Thought about submitting a DCR that qrcvdtaq should put some sort of lock on the object. However if I am in a cycle (read the queue but now processing an entry) the lock wouldn't be there. And, others may not like the potential adverse effects to their backups also. Therefore the odds of IBM changing something to suit me and risk honking off a lot of other people when there is a workaround probably would not fly. Rob Berendt
