You will get that IF you said "Add to ASP */and Balance Data/*' This is done on purpose like so that they don't get all the new data and 'go hot'.
If you add only and then balance later they don't get that attribute.

Esteemed Larry,

When YOU ask questions about disk, I get concerned.
I just added two 140gb disk drives to a 520 in an 0595 this morning, V5R4.

Unit 7 is selected for end allocation. Unit 8 is selected for end allocation. ASP balancing type *CAPACITY is active for ASP 1.

Why "end allocation"? Isn't that normally reserved for preparing to remove drives from a system?

Now you really have me concerned.

Called IBM. Apparently if the machine pool is getting hammered this could run for days. Also they just look like they are "end allocation" as part of the balancing operation.
