Done some quick searching but exactly what is Option 3 used for?  --->
before I panic......

I don't remember exactly where I got this from, but IIRC, "extended basedirectory support" includes the /QIBM directory of the IFS. This is usedby i5/OS itself, and the system won't be usable without it.


Though, I haven't tried running without it, so maybe I'm wrong :)
