We were on an 820 (370cpw) last fall at v5r2, just getting by. We then
upgraded to v5r3 and it put us over the edge - really dogged things down
and just about killed us during month end processing. We then upgraded
to a 2400cpw 520 machine and have plenty of batch window to spare!!
Short take of our experience is, v5r3 *does* have impact on performance.
