Not every session at COMMON is a blowout, and "well attended" is subjective. Even if there are only 5 people attending a session, the session may be worthwhile (certainly those 5 thought so). The CMT constantly reviews sessions both for applicability and attendance, among other things. So this is really a non-issue.Throw out sessions that aren't well attended.
Years ago COMMON sessions were held over a five day period. Even then it was often difficult to choose between sessions in the same time slot when you're the only one attending from your organization. Even some organizations with five or more people had and still have this difficulty. So crunching the conference down even more only exacerbates the problem. One of COMMON's fortes is that it doesn't do "just" RPG or SQL or System Management or...whatever. That can, of course, be a drawback because of the aforementioned scheduling conflict. But better that than fewer sessions.

Why not close the conference at noon on Thursday with a nice free lunch and a guest speaker of the caliber of the ones that got stepped on by Quadrant. No matter what you offer in an evening event, many people would have already left. Just an idea.
