Project schedules and other concerns make it tough enough to schedule... if you've only got the choice of one week a year, alot of members will miss their chance. If savings need to be found, I think it should be done via choice of cities and venue... some of the facilities at the largest cities/hotels/centers aren't that much greater than those that are found in the cheaper cities. That makes it cheaper for the organization and the attendees... The main reason is that I've worked at places that have decided mid-year that they weren't going to meet their numbers. Fall out from that invariably includes killing the training budget. -- John A. But, I too, forget how that went. Being as COMMON is, what, just above half of what it was in it's heyday, I don't see it getting too crowded. However the smaller attendance does increase the venue options. But at our company, we'll send one or two people to each common. Cutting it down to once a year would just cut out how often people would get their rotation. No, we wouldn't start sending more per conference. Cutting down to one a year might encourage yet one more company to try to get a chunk of the pie by hosting 'yet another midrange conference'. There's already plenty. We limit ourselves to COMMON and occasionally IBM Technical Conference.
