I'm not joking. I'm just used to connecting via serial number. I know I could use both, and I know that even if I had specified the serial number I was actually using the IP address. So forgive me for being so naive but this is something I've never came across, nor had to change. Scott thanks for your explanation. I don't ever recall seeing a host table entry for the serial number before so I assume that in the past someone entered the serial number and IP address into the DNS. It doesn't look like this has been done here. If I change the domain name information (CHGTCPDMN command) will that cause any problems? Based on what I've read it wouldn't, but I want to be sure.
