Changing the domain information on the iSeries isn't going to allow you to 
connect via "serial number".

You'll need to have an entry added to the DNS server being used on you network. 
 Now DNS could be running on the iSeries, even so changes to the domain 
information don't effect DNS.  You need to modify the DNS server entries 
themselves.
