You probably put the serial number as a host name in your DNS and
specified the IP address of the AS400.

Can anyone tell me why I can only connect to our AS/400 by its IP
address and not he serial number? For example when I create a new
workstation device with client access it will not accept the serial
number only the IP address. I'm just curious because where in the past
at other jobs I could always use the serial number to connect.
