Could your old jobs have used SNA to connect?  You likely started a PC
router job before the 5250.  Now it is all TCP. No router to connect is
needed.

Can anyone tell me why I can only connect to our AS/400 by its IP address
and not he serial number? For example when I create a new workstation device
with client access it will not accept the serial number only the IP address.
I'm just curious because where in the past at other jobs I could always use
the serial number to connect.
