Had to jump in with my .02 We are assuming, that the business in question, is highly volatile, with a high volume of transactional/business processing. It has been my unfortunate experience, to see very large machines , running very low volume business transactions, even with respect to B2B traffic. Obviously, a very good salesperson oversold in this instance. I also did not hear mention of an 'in-line' invoice history transaction file, again, that would be a great tool for a reasonably good volume of traffic. We on this mailing list, are distinctly aware, of the TCO advantage of ISeries boxes, to most other products available. (As a point of interest, that TCO advatage was lost to HP in many cases, in the 80's).. If there are three people in administration, and their company sells three locomotives annually, our advice is moot. The 'boss' in this case, may be correct. The size, number of users, B2B/C traffic, transaction volumes,etc.....all have to be considered, when making these decisions. As well, the 'boss', may know for example, that a great deal of the applications will soon be taken over by a H/O operation, and he/she may not divulge this information to our associate. The responses given were excellent, I just feel a little more research is needed here, to give a really accurate response. I'll shut up now.
