Hi Jon

<snip>
For those who haven't read it, the article discusses encryption using
the MI
API CIPHER. It also references the new V5R3 (PTFd into V5R2) APIs that
are
reputed to be even better.
</snip>

Interesting article, but I'm having a little difficulty with the sample
program. I'm using a v4r5 machine and have convert it back to fixed
format code, but every time the _CIPHER API is called I get an MCH5601
error (Template value invalid).

Looking at the documentation for the _CIPHER API, it indicates that for
RC4 type encryption this error is generated by the Reserved entry in the
KeyInfo structure not being initialised to x'00.

I have checked the values of all parameters going to the API and they
all look good to me. Do you have any ideas as to what the problem could
be, or anywhere else to check?

Thanks

Jonathan
