I think the recommendation for nonswitched SDLC was to use VPN support. I think it would be hazardous to imply that, since they don't have a recommended course of action for dial up SDLC, that it has any greater longevity planned. Judging by your email domain, I would think that you must be a business partner of EDI proportions and could ask for a clarification. I once had them clear up a planning statement for V5R3. Basically, since V5R3 dropped the JDK needed for Domino R5, why don't they just come out and say that R5 of Domino was dropped on V5R3 and suggest upgrading to Domino R6? Of course, I also argued that it could imply increased revenue for IBM Global Services in getting people upgraded to Domino R6 prior to when V5R3 came out. All of my opinions are solely based on the websites mentioned in this thread and not on any potential inside information. The following link says they are dropping SDLC, but in the detailed paragraph "WAN protocol (SDLC, X.25, FrameRelay) alternatives" they specifically say "non-switched". What about switched (dial-up) SDLC? http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/support/planning/v5r3suggested_alternatives.html Seems like if they're still going to offer a synchronous comm card (capable of running bisync) they could still let us do switched SDLC. Anybody know? If you still need SNA, you can still use ANYNET, or your SDLC card (if you still have one). -- This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
