Thank you very much. I think that this is just what I wanted. There is almost more code there than in the whole of my product ERROS (I exaggerate not as much as you might imagine) and it will take me a little while to enter it, understand it and test it, but I am most grateful. Fortunately I only need to test for port 23 when a job starts so I can put it in my startup program.
