AFAIK, it will not use the second COM port. Rob is right - the switchbox is not usable for remote desktop or PC Anywhere types of things. We used the switchbox for connection from 1 Windows box to 2 iSeries, as well as an InterTel phone system and a DSL modem.

Tell you what, how about getting VMWare and having 2 machines on the same box?

otherwise, if you have support with IBM, give them a call - maybe they have a good answer.

Get a switchbox for the serial cable (DB9) 2 in - 1 out ro 4 in - 1 out.

They're cheap. Then switch between the boxes. You can have only one
alive
at a time - switching will kill the connection.
