You want to take a look at a virtual IP setup.

Basically, you give your box a virtual IP.  You use the virtual IP in your
DNS, host, ect.  The switches in you network will see the physical IPs as
simply the next hop to the virtual IP.  Thus, if a physical board dies,
packets simply use another connection....users don't even know.

As far as load balancing, take a look at in the info center at the subjects
