Why do anything interactive? The monitor job is just there to look for the checkpoint message and to get things restarted once it has been achieved. Also you aren't in a truly restricted state when doing this since you need to have one job running to do the save and another one running to do the monitoring. The main thing you need is to have things shut down enough that there will be no object locks that would interfere with achieving a checkpoint. Not that I'm doubting you, but why would I want to use option 1 (SAVxxx interactive, monitor in batch) as opposed to option 2 (monitor interactive, SAVxxx in batch)? Am I not thinking of something obvious? Thanks. -- Jeff Crosby Dilgard Frozen Foods, Inc. P.O. Box 13369 Ft.
