I did the conversion up front at V5R1M0 getting ready to go to V5R2. The total time of the conversion was 7.5 minutes on an 830 4-Way. The Info Center stuff does a good job of laying it out for you. The biggest headache was getting the time to bring the system down to a dedicated state to do this. If I am not mistaken it requires a dedicated system and is well documented as such. I agree whole heartedly that more people need to review the Memo to Users prior to upgrading the software. And I agree with you that some of us manage to find every little thing that can possibly cause a hiccup. However, for those folks that need to justify every second of downtime (planned or unplanned), I wanted to let them know the alternative to doing the convert in V5R1 or V5R2. And offer some of what we've seen during the early testing. BTW, for those who may want to convert before upgrading, there is a tool documented in the V5R2 Info Center that can give you an estimate for the conversion time. This tool DOES NOT apply to the concurrent convert in V5R3, but it's helpful as a planning tool and input to assessing your potential outage window. I'd guess previous experiences are the only way to assess your level of risk. :) -- Sue iSeries Advanced Technical Sales Support Rochester, MN _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
