Sue:

I had no problem with CVTDIR. It zipped through to completion in minutes on a
model 250. I mentioned it as a possible "irritation" primarily because I have
no way to know what it'd run like on someone else's system. And because it was
relatively quick and painless and I was clearly going to be in restricted state
anyway just doing preparation for the upgrade -- applying previous PTFs *PERM,
etc. -- it seemed an ideal time to get it out of the way.

Of course, I also had to contend with pre-GA cume packages where I had zero
experience with what would happen when the upgrade finished. Past object
conversions would take days to complete on some systems. Good to know this one
is relatively minimal.

Finally, I certainly agree that RCLSTG is minimal probability. I also know
(from past experience) that if _anyone_ is gonna be the unlucky one to get hit
with need for it, it'll be me. (And I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few
others who feel the same about themselves.) Now, if IBM wants to _guarantee_ I
won't need RCLSTG for some period of time...<g>?

More than anything, I wanted to get more people reviewing the Memo to Users
ahead of time. This document is invaluable for each upgrade. A lot of list
members know this, but there are always new ones.

Tom
