I guess what I'd do is compare the costs to something like iSeries DevCon,
which pays its speakers, has a smaller attendance, and yet makes money.
This means that at least one component of COMMON costs more, and evidently
signficantly more, on a percentage basis than DevCon.  Maybe that's an area
that can be looked at.  I have no idea how to run a conference, but I do
know how to compare numbers, so maybe that's a place to start: compare with
a venue that works.
