William, There are actually two user data fields One is User Specified Data and it is 10 characters long The other is User Defined Data and it is 255 characters long. Make sure you are retrieving the correct one that you want. Many people get the two mixed up. Richard www.drvtech.com Hi, I'm trying to retrieve the "User Data" (usrdta) field from spool files on an OutQ. I've been trying the QUSRSPLA API, format SPLA0100, and it doesn't give me what I want. I've looked at the record-layout specs for this format. It has a field called "user defined data", but this does not seem to be it. I change the usrdta field on the CHGSPLFA screen to something recognizable, then look at the return data from the API and I don't see the values I'm entering. Any advice? or examples?
