In a CL or in an RPG use QCMDEXE, for the command RTVSPLFA and get the user
data field into a variable.

Subject: Retrieve "User Data" from spool files?

Hi,
I'm trying to retrieve the "User Data" (usrdta) field from spool files on an
OutQ. I've been trying the QUSRSPLA API, format SPLA0100, and it doesn't
give me what I want. I've looked at the record-layout specs for this
format. It has a field called "user defined data", but this does not seem
to be it.

I change the usrdta field on the CHGSPLFA screen to something recognizable,
then look at the return data from the API and I don't see the values I'm
entering.

Any advice? or examples?

I feel sure that this can be done, I just don't know how.

TIA
