It was just a few short years ago that many users raised the roof over having the interactive CPW limits "shoved down their throats" rather than having to choose between a full interactive model or a server model. I have had an application stuck on a 620 due to using right around 100 CPW interactive(my 620 is 210 CPW interactive model) and not wanting to risk migrating it to a 720 with only 120 CPW interactive capacity. On a 720 the upgrade to 240 CPW interactive alone was about $100K. Now I can upgrade my 720 to an 810 enterprise edition for about the same price and not only do I get 1020 CPW interactive, but I'll save over $20K per year in Software Subscription and SupportLine costs and also get LPAR and Linux capabilities. Perhaps the 810 doesn't currently have an upgrade path(though it scales to a 2700 CPW 2-way,) but if my workload triples I think I could justify the new hardware. One of our machines is also an 820 with 1100/35 CPW. We don't need more than 35 interactive but the comparable 825 upgrade is $200,000 higher than the machine I budgeted for this year. I could upgrade to an 810 for only an additional $100,000 but the 810 can't be upgraded to anything else so why would a company put a brick wall right in front of their growth plan? Forcing limited interactive CPW users to move to full interactive CPW is *WRONG. All of these customers will be *SCREWED.
