> From: "trevor perry" <trevorp@looksoftware.com> > Web-enabled is an interesting term and used in many ways... That was my reason for asking for clarification. The impact and momentum of the Internet, forces every vendor to associate their product with the "Web", which often leads to a misunderstanding of a product's underlying architecture. There seems to be a lot of functional overlap between: (a). 5250 and HTML (both offer a syntax for formatting text). (b). Telnet and the HTTP Servers (both offer a host connection to a client). (c). The NewLook Client and Internet Explorer (both provide a graphical user interface and something of a scripting engine for application extension). And to one degree or another, these technologies seem to compete with one another. > Extending and integrating the green screen application is a whole > ~world~ of options ... Which, in the case of NewLook (if I understand correctly), involves a repository of definitions, rules, filters, macros, and so forth. Is the repository a relational database? A stream file? Is it normally stored on the host, or installed on the workstation? Thanks, Nathan M. Andelin www.relational-data.com
