Yep better. Because you say why you think it is a bad idea. And that was my
point. I do not take very many peoples word for anything anymore without
asking why. I seldom give people answers without asking why they want to
know.

I really link Communigate for a mail server also. I would like more
information from the IBM AS/400 mail server. Having the IBM mail server
hanging up is bad enough but having no idea what is going on or what has
happened, makes it unusable.

Are you kidding? The host file gives you a lot of flexibility. I can call
the AS400, John and you can name it Bob in each of our host file. You can
do the same with DNS, but do you really think a network administrator would
do that for us? ;)   For the record I do not use the host file, because it
is only for that computer, and do not like duplicating data, if using more
then one computer.
