This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Dave, We have 5 iSeries. Domino runs on all of these. One of these is a DSD (Dedicated Server for Domino). Not only are we using Domino for email but we have purchased some outside packages for workflow. For me, I didn't really understand workflow until I saw this package in use. The package we bought does: Corrective Actions, Engineering Change Notices, APQP, Preventive Actions, Calibrations, Preventive Maintenance, Document Control, Training records, and much, much more. Sample: I have a Calibration due on mm/dd/yyyy. x days before it sends me an email with a link to this ticket. I click on the link and it pulls up the exact item I need to calibrate. If I don't act on it in a timely fashion there are 3 levels of escalation. Each can be assigned different people, including [ReportsTo]. I've had Procedures typed up in the Document Control database. I sent them on for approval to my boss - the VP of IS. He failed to work on it in a timely fashion. When the CEO gets the escalation the boss gets around to it pretty quick. He did ask me how to stop notifying the CEO. My reply "Complete the assignment in a timely fashion." Later I offered to change the escalation table. But he took his lumps and buckled down. We've done numerous custom databases in Notes. Our website is Domino based. Currently it is rather static. http://www.dekko.com I've went to 2 classes on admin and one on development. This is the path recommended for all administrators. Developers start with 2 on development and 1 on administration. For a statement on how strategic we feel Domino/Notes is: http://www.lotus.com/products/r5web.nsf/webcus/9FC15A9863D773A18525691C00693B93?OpenDocument Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." We are using GroupWise as our email software. Overall we are pretty satisfied with it, but some are pushing for a switch. To what is the question. Lotus Notes is one option. Doesn't this run on the AS400? Can I get some feedback from those who use it there and especially from those who made a switch from GroupWise or Outlook (the other option)? What about performance or dasd space considerations? What about remote access like via the web? I know nothing about Lotus Notes so go easy on me. If anyone is using other packages and want to give their opinions I would appreciate those as well.
