Questions for you: Do you use the Groupware functions? If so, how is it
received by the users? Is there a learning curve?

Subject: Re: Email packages

We are running Domino and Notes on a iSeries and love it. I had been
running MS xchange 2000 using active dir and we have no end to problems. We
wound up rebooting at least 3 to 4 times a week. Web access was full of
security issues. I never used Lotus Notes before ,and you can check with
the guys at Bass Pro , that I was very reluctant to use Lotus Notes. After
the problems we had with Exchange I knew the next platform had to be
stable. We requested a Loaner Dedicated Domino Server from IBM and got to
keep it for 2 months. During that time we had Zero (0) unscheduled
downtime. It just keep on running. It ran so well that we had the Domino
Server forward the mail to the Exchange Server and vice versa. We setup
users in Lotus Notes and they loved being able to get their mail while
others would struggle with Exchange. This is just to say that we are
extremely pleased with the Lotus Notes solution.

I have been asked by my CTO to throw this message out here and see what
type of feedback I get.

We are using GroupWise as our email software. Overall we are pretty
satisfied with it, but some are pushing for a switch. To what is the
question. Lotus Notes is one option. Doesn't this run on the AS400? Can I
get some feedback from those who use it there and especially from those who
made a switch from GroupWise or Outlook (the other option)? What about
performance or dasd space considerations? What about remote access like via
the web? I know nothing about Lotus Notes so go easy on me.
If anyone is using other packages and want to give their opinions I would
appreciate those as well.

Thanks,
Dave
