The CD rom for the Primary partition must be the one in the MFIOP, and cannot be switched. I would suggest that for the paltry cost of CD roms, you might be better putting them in all of the partitions. The IOP could handle either or both your tape and CD. This suggests only one IOP as well. If you had a 4partition system you might get 2 tapes/CDs & IOPs and switch them into the partitions to meet our processing requirements (i.e 0 to 2 tape drives in a partition). Tape drive like the 3590, for instance, have 2 cables to attach to the system or partition. This is OK too but requires an IOP per partition. So there are options versus cable swaps.
