Hi Anne,

I think you are doing a great job.

It is promising that the system will have the horsepower that it needs

Mr Zeitler sounds like he knows what is going on. I have confidence in him.
My immed thought when I was listening to him though was that the continuing
consolidation that he was describing is good for IBM, it makes the company
more manageable. But is it best for the customer ? For example, the
continued deemphasis of interactive terminal computing and emphasis on
client/server helps IBM deliver a one size fits all solution. But a
customer who just wants to add graphics to a telnet session is out of luck.

This is the 2nd time I have heard Buell Duncan speak. The first time I
heard him speak maybe to business partners and tell them that the iSeries
hosting NT was a great business opportunity. My immed thought then: Oh
brother ... This time I heard Mr Zeitler interupt Duncan saying something
to the effect of "you did not understand the question, here is the better
answer". I question if Mr Duncan understands what is going on.

Speaking my mind for the good of our platform. Looking forward to next weeks
call.

Steve Richter
