I agree with that but since it falls under the class of 'opinion' I wasn't
going to get involved.  I did want to point out that there are instances where
the QCMDEXC or system() approach won't work.  For example, any of the RTVxxx
commands, or other commands which have return values (e.g., SNDPGMMSG).  For
these you must use an API or call a CL program (or HLL with support for the
specific task).  If you create a program to handle fetching the data then there
is a strong case for creating a program to handle changing the data.
Consistent interfaces are a boon (small minds and hobgoblins notwithstanding).
My opinion only, of course :)
