check out the security auditing functions - this probably has something 
that will meet your needs one way or another.

You could (for example) identify which profiles have the rights to perform 
the changes causing you problems and audit them specifically to see what 
they are up to. I think you can also audit system value changes and user 
profile changes anyway. Object auditing of the profiles themselves might 
provide another avenue of attack.
