I truly dislike this idea. I use several differnet transaction based web
"applications" such as banking, and shopping. In my opinion, the browser
makes a very poor interface for these types of applications. In fact, I'm at
a loss to think of ANY type of application that has been improved by a
browser based UI.

Let's just quickly take a look at a few examples:

Application Type                Traditional GUI

Email client                         Outlook
Hotmail
News                                 Gravity, FAgent
Various web fora
Product Docs                     Context Sensitive Help
IBM InfoCenter

I find that browsers tend to be good at what they were designed for -
rendering a document for display, but are generally a poor means of
collecting, validating, and processing data.
