Out here we are paying about $350 a month for a dedicated
56k DS0 line.  You might want to look at going that route.

And, if it's just dial up, how would the phone company know how much
it was going to cost each month?  wouldn't it depend on how much
it was used?

I think you're right and the phone co. is playing games with you.
