Pat,

Assuming you are using an IBM modem (or other modem that supports V25bis
dial) you can change the controller description to *DIAL, the dial
command parameter to *V25BIS, and the phone number to the number of the
5394. The line description may have to be changed to allow a dial
connection. And, of course, the 5394 will have to be changed to
auto-answer and accept a dial connection.

As another thought, you might find a frame relay connection for that
much money, too.
