Chris,

Your sales rep (unfortunately in my opinion) is correct. Each PC
needs a license for EACH AS/400 it is connected to. As a Rochester
spokesman told me once, "It's not so much HOW to count, but rather
WHEN to count that gives is so much grief". It appears they answered
the WHEN with ALWAYS.

Note that a) The usage is concurrent. So the license is in use only
when 5250 or File Transfer is in use to that particular machine. and
b) If the PC is using say ODBC to connect to all 3 of the machines and
5250 to only one of them then a license is needed only on the one the
5250 connection is made to. Also note that the licenses are to the
AS/400 not to the PC - That is, you can't use a license on AS/400 "A"
today and use that same license to connect to AS/400 "B" tomorrow (at
least not without doing entirely too much IBM paperwork.)
