Thank-you Vernon for your suggestions. The problem still exists, but am now using a freeware to shut down the machines. It works everytime. I'm getting a little weary with this PMR sent to IBM. It's still open. It seems like I'm running in circles again and could be a "user environment problem." IBM is telling me to try what I did 3 months ago, i.e., load clean and etc. I'm looking at Netsoft now as a possible alternative. I just don't know what to do. :( By the way, has anyone successfully connected CA/400 95/NT using Win98? I've only used Win98 rc1 and it failed. I asked IBM Support when they will support Win98 and they had no formal ETA. Hard part for us, Win98 will soon be shipping with our new PCs the new fiscal year. Looks like we need to downgrade to Win95 (OSR1 or OSR2.) Heavy sigh. For the PCs, how I wish for the DOS and terminal days again......heavy sigh. (I'm probably showing my youth here compared to some of the *old*, real old timers.) <BG> Thanks again and hope the weather is as terrible there in MN as it is in Hawaii. :D Randy W. -----Original Message----- From: Vernon Hamberg [mailto:hambergv@goldengate.net] Sent: Saturday, May 23, 1998 2:48 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Cc: rawong@ksbe.edu Subject: Re: CA for Win95 (on IE4.01) Randy At 05:24 PM 2/2/98 -1000, you wrote: >Hi all, > >As I was rereading all of the posts I've saved on CA/95 and shutdown using >IE4.x from this list, I'd like to mention the problem is: >1) On a IBM Thinkpads without USB support >2) The Check Service Pack icon is removed from the Startup Group >3) It shutsdown OK when the ThinkPad is running stand alone >4) I do not need to start a 5250 session for it to hang nor start NSADMIN >5) I'm using OSR2.1 >6) I'm using the native MS-Client for Netware and not Novell32 (yet.) >7) I'm using IBM TR PCMCIA adapter running MSDLC32 >8) We're stuck using SNA, no TCP/IP is not an option until we work out our >security on our AS/400. >9) I need help. > >TIA and sorry for posting this again. > >Desperate in Hawaii (Randy W.) Other than the terrible weather, what problems can you have? <vbg> Concerning your point 6), there are (were?) known problems using CLIENT32. I don't know if this is still the cass, but go to <http://www.as400.ibm.com.clientaccess> . There you can get to a large number of info APARs, addressing many issues, including compatibility issues. There are documents listing tested hardware and software compatibilities. I won't promise that it'll answer all your concerns, but it may hit some of them.
