You can NOT get the system serial number via RTVNETA. You CAN get the system name. The only valid place to get the System Serial number is in the System Value QSRLNBR via RTVSYSVAL or equivilent. Though the default system name is an S followed by the serial number, you should NEVER make the assumption that this is true. Going CISC to RISC does not necessarily change the serial number. It didn't change when we upgraded our F80 to a 530 or when we upgraded our 320 to a 530.
