RE: Re: CL enhancements

Hi all.
First of all CL hasn't been enhanced in 20 years(this year). I believe
that was the first time some wrote the following;

PGM
MONMSG CPF0000
blah blah blah
yada yada yada
ENDPGM

Yes someone in Rochester keyed in the message text for that stuff
(including the "&1." for CPF9898) BEFORE 1980!. (Ok everybody, What was CPF?)

Any way, read the article on page 24 (i think) in the Jan 98 News/400.
A bright couple of guys were quoted on this subject <BG>.

I WILL stand up at SOUNDOFF and spank them again on this subject
at the New O. COMMON.

John Carr
EdgeTech.

What was my quote last time Jon ? "I think a couple of programmers from
Toronto could do it on their lunch hour"

BTW, How itchy would you guys be to get into 20 year old code?? Hmmm.

I assume you meant to insert "not" over there. That was my original
point, which Chris seemed to disagree with.

It seems that the marketing folks (which tend to drive the technical
arena) at IBM think that new is always better. This allows new snazzy
presentations to created. Unfotunately, much of the tried and true gets
ignored. Fortunately, ILE RPG was created despite this.
