Re: Media Management

Not sure if you are looking for software recommendations
or not.  If so, here they are.  If not, ignore me.

We use Media Management System (MMS) from LXI
and are very pleased with it.  Migrating from a mainframe
that used tapes and management software made this
a necessity for us.

There are many functions built into the software.  The
one we use very heavily is Tape Management (ie:
where is a tape, what's on it, where is this library saved,
when can I reuse a tape, etc.).  MMS has other areas like
archive managment, backup/recovery management, and
container management that we do not use extensively.

That is not a reflection on the capability - more on our needs,
priorities, and time available.



We are lookingfor automated solutions to tape management - we currently
backup our 50S to 8mm and our 530 to a 3570-B01.
