Walden,

You are right.  I implemented Pete Hall's suggestion of  using  
ALTSEQ on the logical file.   I created my own translate table and 
gave the lower case letters the same HEX value as the upper 
case letters.  Now it does not matter what case the user types, the 
list is always positioned correctly.
