Al, it does seem that there are differing opinions.

I discussed this a few years ago with an insurance inspector when I had
finished building a computer room (raised flooring). I had mentioned that
I wanted halon but it looked like I would have to put in water. He told me
that water worked fine and that (clean) water won't damage hardware. I
didn't point out that the hard water we have here in the Las Vegas valley
damages everything else. I did point out that we were standing next to two
10Kva batteries and that if the sprinklers went off without enough
warning, it might be a little like going for a ride in a bug light.
