Yes, W2000 (or XP) manage the data flow better (memory & ODBC stream) than
W98.

Typical user here has 733MHz to 1GHz Intel PIII with 512 MB RAM, swap file
set to 2.5 X RAM
and running W2000. Browser seems to run fairly smooth, especially
considering the amount of
data we have on line in MAPICS. We are experiencing some growing pains as
we are adding
users to Browser as well as Integrator functionality.

100MB NIC is a given, must be same on AS/400, but also consider the
hierarchy of your network
and the switches you use. For example, ALL net devices should be
switches, not hubs, and no
more than two switches between your user and AS/400 (I think that is
practical for most mid-sized
mfrs). How old are your switches, are they reliable & efficient, there
are many 'cheap' switches
out there that don't push the data as efficiently as say Intel/Cisco/HP,
etc..

There is some performance tuning steps available for Browser, I'm not
knowledgeable about
them enough to even point you in the right direction, but Vince touched on
it. I think there is a
PTF offering guidance on ensuring performance alignment between
views/subsets and access
paths (logicals?).

See: SH13322,

Getting a Browser SQL Log
Open up the SQL spy viewer and take note of the files in the From clause.
The spy can be
opened one of two ways:

Method 1:

At the Initial Login screen for the browser, hold down the Alt and Shift
Keys. Click on the
Continue button at the bottom left side of the login.

Method 2:

With the Browser already running, Click on File and then click on Summary
Info. When
the Summary information box is displayed, hold down the Alt and Shift keys
on the PC
keyboard and click on the OK button the SQL spy is displayed.

Good luck.....
