I'll add a little more background in case someone from IBM is watching this
list.

First - The copy of 5769-CL3 is a Christmas gift for my wife who is a
consultant. She has tried to order CODE/400 twice in the past without
success and has given up. Her use of CODE/400 at client sites would
probably increase the number of installations using CODE/400. I think IBM
would want to encourage consultants to use the tools and help gain
acceptance in the AS/400 community.

Second - If I am successful in obtaining a copy for Susan, I will probably
order a copy for myself for use with one of the AS/400 timeshare services
for non-work related R&D. My preference would be to purchase my own AS/400,
but they don't yet have that $5,000 machine with all of the tools.

I too have a problem placing my order for 5769-CL3.

I attempted to order through IBM-Direct and was told the order could not be
accepted since we already have it installed, as per our profile. The
existence of the upgraded version as of 10/20/2000 made no difference.

Then there was the issue that we were 'owned' by an IBM Partner and
IBM-Direct could not sell to us.

As in you case, they are working on it.

Has anyone been successful ordering the WebSphere Development Tools for
AS/400 without an AS/400 serial number? I though I was set when IBM's web
page allowed me to place the order and didn't ask for a serial number. But
they can't process the order without a serial number. A couple guys within
IBM (one from PC and one from AS/400) are working the issue. Can anyone
offer some tips to help them process the order?

Regards,
Stan
