If you didn't already know, you know now that SSA has "sunset" the
UserVision tool.

While I have heard many references to "LoserVision", I also know how hard
it is for end users to really use AS/400 query. AS/400 Query is less than
user-friendly, and has lots of short comings when you are talking about
queries/reports that end users can easily create and re-use. UserVision
was SSA's attempt to address these issues. (Ever try having users select
the correct warehouse for an on-hand inventory valuation report? The users
either have to go to the query select statement and work with field names,
or IT has to add a front end program.)

With UserVision officially an unsupported product, you may want to consider
moving from UserVision to a more widely used and supported query tool. The
"Data Warehouse" and "Business Intelligence" vendors of the world have
tools like this that are part of their main product line. You don't have
to get into a detailed data warehouse implementation to use a "front end"
reporting tool. Typically, these tools address most of the issues with
AS/400 query + add many more features + they work (vs UserVision).
Additionally, they can also fit into your Data Warehouse or Business
Intelligence strategies. There are several reasonably priced tools on
the market that work well with the AS/400 and BPCS including these from
leading vendors:

"Impromptu" and "PowerPlay" from Cognos (SSA business partner)

DataTracker and DataMart from Silvon (SSA business partner)

Business Objects from Business Objects (SSA business partner)

ShowCase Strategy from Showcase Corporation (IBM business Partner)

After working with BPCS and IBM query tools for 14 years, I happen to think
that these tools are "cooler than sliced bread", are easy to learn, and
most actually deliver on their promises to make life easier for IS and
better for users. I have experience with several of these packages and can
discuss the pros/cons of each package vs your specific business
requirements and BPCS environment if you are interested.

Dear BPCS Professional

We use Uservision 1.3.4 service pack 6 as our reporting tools on BPCS.
Uservision 2 ver 1.3.4. is not a Y2K compliant before you apply service
pack 2 (now available on FTP service pack 6).

With service pack 2 the Y2K is solve but it create other problem is if
you use subreport, the page header will not print in the properly report
page header. Helpline said that service pack also solve the problem for
subreport heading and mentioned in readme.txt.

I am very confuse to this problem which I reported 2 weeks ago and still
unfixed.

Hope your comment.

Regards

Kusman Lim
