Just a thought Rob - but did you use the configuration migration utility - or did you do it by hand?
I just checked our 7.3 system and there is no sign of the migration option - don't know when it was removed. This article from 2001

If you did the conversion by hand, maybe someone who has a V6 or earlier system can take a look and see if they have it and maybe do the migrate for you, It would at least give you an idea of what IBM thought was needed.
