As you review PHP frameworks, how would you feel about interfacing with IBM
i REST web services on the back end as an alternative to the traditional
ODBC/JDBC/ORM interfaces? And if you like the idea of implementing IBM i
REST web services, how might that influence your choice of PHP frameworks?

I am in the planning stage for a new project that we are using PHP on i
for. PHP will provide the user interface and will call ILERPG for
validation and database updates.

As this is a larger project we have been looking at frameworks and are
currently reviewing the following;

1) Laravel
2) CodeIgniter
3) CakePHP

From our brief review we have come up with the following;

Laravel looks like it's gained a lot of traction recently and is the
current leader in frameworks although . . It looks like has a steeper
learning curve over CodeIgniter and CakePHP and it may be most difficult to
get running on an IBM i as it uses the command line for certain tasks

CodeIgniter looks good too as it is more simple to set up and use. It's not
as feature rich as Laravel but it seems to have everything we require for
the project

CakePHP is one of the original PHP frameworks but I think it's loosing
traction.

Has anyone used any of these frameworks or any others that we have not
looked at ?

Any comments or suggestions about using these or other frameworks ?

Thank you for any assistance, feedback or comments.
