The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Yw.
If I'm honest I am no fan of Java either, but when I first started this idea Node was not available (at least not on our version of the OS at the time) and Java was already a known quantity and I happened to have one of the leading Java lights, Adam Bien, to guide me. Even now I feel that Node support (along with all the other open source stuff) is a bit half-hearted and not particularly up-to-date. I will at some point write a version of the Java layer in Node as my language of choice these days is Typescript and I might as well use the same language for the front and back end.
I can give you a link to a basic working front-end, unfortunately it's a very simple app but all of the production apps I have done are proprietary for my clients and I haven't had time to work on a decent public example. It's not really ready from prime-time so if you ping me via the address on BitBucket I'll send you the info.
Tim.

Thanks for the links.
I think Java is often maligned because everyone chases the new shiny thing and because of the hamburger flipping debacle in the early part of the 2000's.
I'll publish whatever I put together around this.

Richard, it's actually open source so you can do what you like with it ?
There are two parts, there's the Java part with runs under TomEE (Tomcat with Java EE extension) and there's some RPG/SQL required on the back-end too.
The Java part is here
https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbitbucket.org%2Ffathert%2Fwebspi-java&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cfb341cc87cdf456e0e2d08d57d2eaaa7%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636552561736491543&sdata=RukOb4YlrRKjDGJl4D6%2B14cDtxJ5C8fI%2FwRhzXvbeak%3D&reserved=0
the RPG/SQL part is here
https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbitbucket.org%2Ffathert%2Fwebspi-ibmi&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cfb341cc87cdf456e0e2d08d57d2eaaa7%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636552561736491543&sdata=wA%2B%2BTFboIF6u5KVlUaXjom3FxsqZ04TecFUAGkWurcA%3D&reserved=0
They are separate because the target system doesn't have to be IBM i, other databases could be used with it too (simultaneously even).
I'm afraid the documentation is a bit rubbish because I haven't had the time to polish it, but feel free to ping me if you need any more info.
Tim.
